Eine klassische mittlere Telebrennweite von 42,5 mm (entspricht 85 mm bei Kleinbildkameras).

Die große Blendenöffnung erlaubt den gezielten Umgang mit der geringen Schärfentiefe.

Das LUMIX G 42.5mm F1.7 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. ist die Panasonic-Alternative zum Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 45mm F1.8, bei (fast) gleichen Eckdaten ist es dem Nutzer überlassen, für welches Objektiv er sich entscheidet.

Hierbei ist aber zu beachten, dass das LUMIX G 42.5mm F1.7 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. einen eingebauten Bildstabilisator hat (was für Besitzer mit Panasonic-Kameras ohne eingebautem Stabilisator ein Kaufgrund sein könnte) und (wichtig) - im Gegensatz zum M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 45mm F1.8 - die Gegenlichtblende im Lieferumfang enthalten ist. Dies ist - insbesondere beim Preisvergleich - zu beachten.

Hinsichtlich der optischen Qualität gibt es nur unwesentliche Unterschiede - lt. diesem Vergleich bei cameralabs.com:

• Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 45mm F1.8 - etwas schlechtere Schärfe im Randbereich, sehr gefälliges Bokeh
• LUMIX G 42.5mm F1.7 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. - kein nennenswerter Abfall der Schärfe am Bildrand, Bokeh etwas schlechter als beim o.a. Zuiko, kürzere Naheinstellung (0.31 m)

Der Test in digitalkamera.de spricht von einer geringeren Auflösung im Vergleich zum Zuiko, dies könnte aber - wenn man die anderen Berichte aus den bekannten Quellen berücksichtigt - an einer gewissen Serienstreuung liegen.

And this is a general theme across the majority of Micro-Four-Thirds lenses pretty much regardless of their price tag. The center resolution is very sharp at f/1.7 already and the borders/corners are no slouch either here. Stopping down improve the quality a bit further. Image distortions are already fairly low in raw files and negligible in JPGs. Lateral CAs are a non-issue. There's just a bit of light falloff at maximum aperture and it's gone by f/2.8. The quality of the bokeh is good overall but it's not flawless. The rendering of out-of-focus hightlights is impressive. However, the background bokeh could be a little smoother in difficult situations at least."
"The build quality is on a high level as well. Due to its feather-like weight it lacks "substance" but objectively there isn't much to complain about really.
