Die [[Einstellscheibe 1-8]] ist eine reine [[Mattscheibe]] etwas gröber als die [[Einstellscheibe 1-4]]. In der Mitte weißt sie eine eine feiner mattierte Fläche auf, die etwa doppelt so groß ist, wie der Bereich der Spotmessung mit der [[OM-4]] oder [[OM-4 Ti]].<br />
<br />
Der Verzicht auf Einstellhilfen wie [[Entfernungsmesser#Schnittbildindikator|Schnittbild]] oder [[Entfernungsmesser#Mikroprismenring|Mikroprismen]] wird von vielen Benutzern begrüßt, da<br />
* diese nicht bei der Bildkomposition stören und<br />
* beim Gebrauch mit [[Lichtstärke|lichtschwächeren]] [[Objektiv]]en keine Abdunklung der Einstellhilfen eintreten kann.<br />
<br />
Die [[Einstellscheibe 1-8]] wird von manchen Benutzern als [[Einstellscheibe|Universaleinstellscheibe]] benutzt. Wie alle ursprünglichen [[Mattscheibe]]n des [[OM-System]]s ist sie für heutige Ansprüche relativ dunkel.<br />
